REBUS pulled a double switch last Tuesday night at Busch Stadium when they hosted the REBUS Quadruple Play Client Panel, an event that allowed young advertising professionals a chance to turn the tables by putting some of St. Louis’ biggest brands on the hotseat. While somewhat of a misnomer, as REBUS chaired five panelists instead of the anticipated four, the Quadruple Play offered participants a rare chance to ask the panelists about their days and ways running big brands.

Hosted just inside the world famous Busch Stadium at the fabulous Cardinals Club, the gathering was more party than event. Delicious gourmet appetizers, wine, and the legendary beers of Anheuser Busch delighted attendees, along with great Cardinals photos and memorabilia throughout the adjoining rooms, including the World Championship Commissioner’s Trophy from the Cardinals historic World Series win over the Brewers in 1982! A few lucky attendees even snuck into the stadium and got a glimpse of the ground crew already hard at work on revamping the field for the Cardinals upcoming season.

It truly was a great opportunity to enjoy an evening in a historic atmosphere normally reserved for Busch Stadium green seat season ticket holders, just one of the many special-event spaces available at Busch. Julia Row, Manager of Special Events for the St. Louis Cardinals was instrumental in setting up the night, and served as a panelist in a lineup that included Stephen Surman-VP of Digital Strategy for Anheuser-Busch, Jessica Simmons-Corporate Marketing Communications Director for Monsanto, Rebecca Saunders-Global Marketing Manager for Stereotaxis, and May Scheve Reardon-Director of The Missouri Lottery.

Jennifer Simler was the MC for the Quadruple Play and kicked off the evening with a first pitch of questions that set the stage for the evening, before bringing in the audience for their questions. A few interesting highlights included the differing approach that the Missouri Lottery and Anheuser Busch take with regard to CRM via social media channels, the globe-trotting lifestyle of brand managers with clients around the world, and Monsanto’s thinking behind the “St. Louis Grown” campaign. Other memorable moments from the night included Stephen Surman’s tale of a previous life in peddling tampons, May Scheve’s distribution of free lottery tickets, and the practically perfect bartending of the crowd-favorite Tina…who ran the helm at the tap all evening long.

Looking ahead, REBUS is taking a holiday break in December, but is extremely excited to be heading to PR giant Fleishman-Hillard in January for a night that promises to continue the recent hot-streak that REBUS has been on. For those of you that attended the Quadruple Play, it was great to see you. For those that didn’t, you’ll have to wait ‘til next year! See you at Fleishman!

A big thanks to the folks at Group 360 and the volunteers from Ready + Willing. The September event proved, once again, to be a great success. 50+ advertising folk gathered for drinks and discussion in Group 360′s huge three story space. While the goal was originally to document the nights festivities, the 360-degree bar complete with almost any beer you can imagine (AB products of-course) completely got the best of me. But hey, you can’t spell REBUS without BEER right? Right.

Check back to the blog soon for details on next month’s event!
