Ad Club St. Louis, hosts “Beyond the ADDYs”, a learning lunch at The Moto Museum, 3441 Olive Street, May 18, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“Beyond the ADDYs” highlights recent winners of local awards, the “Oscars of Advertising” which this year includes the agencies of Rogers Townsend/DDB, Hoffman\Lewis, Hughes and JUMP. Representatives from each of the winning agencies will provide a look behind its award winning campaign for its clients.

This event is open to all advertising and marketing communication professionals as well as students. Costs of the event are: $30 Members, $40 Non-members, $20 Students. Tables of eight are available for $200. The proceeds from the learning luncheon will go to the Advertising Scholarship fund for students of advertising at the college level.

“For any one interested in advertising, student or professional, this is a great opportunity to see the inside workings, the mechanics of award-winning work taken from a blank page, to a completed, successful campaign, and more importantly, really happy clients,” explained, Kim Boyer, president of AAF-Ad Club St. Louis.

Dust Off the Pine. It’s Time for a Wood Derby. by Michael Buffa

It’s time once again for Coolfire’s 4th Annual Pinewood Derby!  Group 360 was last year’s Speed Champion.  Who will be crowned 2011 Champions?  We’ll soon find out.

Race day is Thursday, July 7th, 2011 at The Thaxton (downtown).  Official weigh-in and entry will be Wednesday, July 6th.  Same rules apply as last year, but the track will be a little more extreme!  We’ll have a race car division and a show car division.  You can enter as many cars as you like.  $250 per entry (suggested donation). Race cars can also compete as show cars.  Official rules will be sent with the car kits. Costumes/themed teams are strongly encouraged!

This year’s proceeds will go to fund the St. Louis Ad Club Scholarship Fund. Over the last three years, we have donated over $15,000 to the scholarship fund.

What we need now is an individual from each agency/company to serve as the “Pit Crew Chief.”  This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be responsible for building the car(s).  You just need to rally the troops at your agency/company and make a sure a car (or 2 or 3) gets entered.  The official Pinewood Car Kits are free.  Just let us know how many you would like and we will send them to you.
