We came. We saw. We played RBI Baseball, shuffleboard, and pool. Shout out to all the REBUS members who came out to Nick’s for the REBUS Happy Hour on August 23rd. A hodge-podge of longtime members and new, fresh faces, the REBUS Happy Hour offered a great chance for some of St. Louis’ young ad interns to network with a few agency professionals who were in their shoes not too long ago.

Driven by a write up on The Saint Louis Egotist and a quirky, talk-show-inspired video, the event drew a favorable crowd on a night when the ad world was in full swing with the BBQ in the Locust Business District. “It was great to finally get to meet some of the people I have seen around LinkedIn and mentioned in conversation,” said Marshon Rogers, creative intern at Switch: Liberate Your Brand.

The second floor of Nick’s Pub offered a nice, cozy place to get together, and an easy highway for quick conversation. Notably, large groups from GROUP360 WORLDWIDE and Schupp Company made it out for the event, including Jake Cann, copywriter intern at Schupp Company who mentioned the projects for The Albert Pujols Foundation and Stray Rescue that he had a chance to work on during the summer.

Our next event is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, September 11th at Atomic Dust. “Things We’ve Learned So Far,” will showcase some of Atomicdust’s favorite projects, share sound advice, and even show some embarrassing photos from Atomicdust’s humble beginnings.

With over 55 RSVPs to date, this event should be a big one. Food and drink will be provided by Atomicdust – and trust us, these guys know how to throw a party. This is an event you won’t want to miss.

Atomicdust and REBUS present, ‘Things We’ve Learned So Far.’

Believe it or not, education doesn’t stop at graduation. Whether you’re just breaking into the biz, or got your start in advertising in the Mad Men era, there is always room for growth.

Join REBUS on Tuesday, September 11,  in the heart of Midtown Alley – St. Louis’ fastest growing neighborhood and home to many of the city’s finest creative firms –  for a special presentation from marketing and design agency, Atomicdust.

Inspired by Stefan Sagmeister’s, “Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far,” Atomicdust’s owners, designers, developers and account managers will share highlights from their 11 years in business. Along the way, they’ll showcase some of their favorite projects, share sound advice and even show some embarrassing photos from Atomicdust’s humble beginnings.

Don’t miss this chance to mingle with local marketing and design professionals, and learn a few things about what it takes to be in the business (or even start one of your own). Food and drink will be provided by Atomicdust – and trust us, these guys know how to throw a party. This is an event you won’t want to miss.

They came. They saw. They had their portfolios reviewed.  On June 12th The Creative Group sponsored the 3rd Annual Self Branding and Shinola for over 75 attendees at FK studios. Danny Elchert, ex REBUS co-chair and mastermind behind the event, put together a blockbuster lineup of speakers that included Eduardo Nieuwenhuyzen, Sr. Director of Visual + Dimensional Design at Switch, Kay Cochran, Vice President/Creative Director of Rodgers Townsend, Tracy Fulton, Vice President, Director, Business Leadership from Momentum Worldwide, Dan Curran, President and Founder, 4ORCE Digital and Sharon Ayres, Vice President, Human Resources of Moosylvania.

The speakers ran through a ton of material relevant to the job searching process for young professionals. Eduardo and Danny gave an in-depth look into the timeline of the hiring process, Sharon offered some insightful tips into the softer side of maintaining good connections in the St. Louis advertising market, Tracy Fulton offered some very straight forward information on acting like you want a job, and Kay Cochran gave the writers in the crowd some good perspective on how to build their portfolio. On January 31st, REBUS members had an opportunity to experience the creative arm of one of the world’s largest PR agencies. Fleishman-Hillard showed off their newly renovated space to over 65 guests at the first REBUS meetup of 2012, and took the opportunity to give some insight into their work in the field of Digital Motion. FH was well prepared for the event, and guests enjoyed great hors d’oeuvres from Broadway Oyster Bar and refreshments from Schlafly Beer.

After an initial introduction and mingling session, where attendees got a general overview of digital motion, Fleishman-Hillard provided breakout sessions that displayed in more depth the work they’ve recently completed with individual clients, like Energizer, Gatorade, Aflac, Papa John’s, Rawlings, and AT&T.
